Advantages:

The THOT® - ATCN developed by AHC extends the concepts in the THOT®-AFFM (Adaptive Fuzzy Feature Mapping) to a large-scale pattern recognition and auto correlation system. It is called the Adaptive Temporal Correlation Network or ATCN.

In brief, ATCN is composed of a collection of interconnected AFFM modules. Each organized node in a given module is connected to every node in every other module. When a node is activated its connections are weighted according to activities in the other modules in the system. A maximum of one node per module may be active at any one time, so a specific subset of connections will be weighted for a specific set of activities in the system.

The system, as designed, is self-organizing and vigilant. That is to say that once the learning parameters are set, no further intervention by human operators is required other than observation of the system state.

New patterns in the target data streams will be identified and correlation to other nodes in other modules will wax or wane naturally as time goes on. A temporal component is easily introduced. That is, nodal connections may be weighted based on activities at some point in the past. Connections to nodes active in some specific past time period are weighted so as to reflect the system activity into a corresponding future time period, thus providing a predictive capability.

The introduction of temporal factors into the weighting of inter-nodal connections allows the system to translate data patterns into complex activity vectors that can be related to users in a graphical display.
